Football Recap: Fort Lupton Comes Up Short

Fort Lupton lost against Sterling back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bluedevils lost 43-22 to the Tigers. The Bluedevils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Fort Lupton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Donte Lenox picked up 100 receiving yards, and also punched in one score on the ground. Lenox also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making four total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending two passes in addition to snagging an interception which he returned for a touchdown.

While Fort Lupton came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for Sterling: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 50%. The team can thank Lorenzo Arellano for the heroic effort on defense: he. Fort Lupton wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 41.7%.

Sterling's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Victor Estrada, who rushed for 130 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. The dominant performance also gave Estrada a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Another player making a difference was Memphis Dempcy, who rushed for 68 yards and one touchdown.

Fort Lupton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Sterling, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season.
