Baseball Recap: San Lorenzo Valley Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

San Lorenzo Valley can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Watsonville Wildcatz. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wildcatz, too.

Jaden Shabry made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. San Lorenzo Valley is 2-1 when Shabry posts two or more runs, but 1-15 otherwise.

Shabry wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brody Egner, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases Egner has posted since back in March. Sean Johnson was another, earning one run and two stolen bases.

San Lorenzo Valley's victory bumped their record up to 3-16. As for Watsonville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-11.

Coming up, San Lorenzo Valley will face off against Harbor at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Watsonville, they will take on Pajaro Valley at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
