Basketball Game Preview: Armwood Hawks vs. Freedom Patriots

Two dominant forwards in Jayden Dryden and Peter Radigan are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Armwood Hawks are taking a road trip to challenge the Freedom Patriots at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Armwood knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Freedom likes a good challenge.

Armwood is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were the clear victor by an 81-60 margin over King on Friday. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Armwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dryden, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 boards gave Dryden a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Achille, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards.

Armwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Freedom didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Lake Wales on Saturday, but they still walked away with a 57-52 victory.

Armwood's record is now 10-6. As for Freedom, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-9.

Armwood came up short against Freedom in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 52-40. Can Armwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
