Baseball Recap: California Lutheran Wins Going Away Against Bethel Christian

California Lutheran lost to Bethel Christian back in May of 2021, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. California Lutheran blew past Bethel Christian 11-4. The result was nothing new for the C-Hawks, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Mathias Galanos and Ethan Ash made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Galanos pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Ash tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Galanos is becoming a predictor of California Lutheran's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). At bat, Galanos scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Ash scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Galanos also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Christian Sutton was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Eli Hansen was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

California Lutheran always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bethel Christian only posted an OBP of .344.

The victory made it two in a row for California Lutheran and bumps their season record up to 7-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.5 runs over those games. As for Bethel Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Coincidentally, California Lutheran and Bethel Christian will both be playing Sherman Indian the next time they take the field. Bethel Christian will host Sherman Indian at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, while California Lutheran will host them at 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
