Baseball Recap: Campbell County Extends Winning Streak to Three

Campbell County entered their tilt with Hancock County on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Indians get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Cougars have won three matches by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Caden Idles and Rylan Rice did most of the damage at the plate: Idles went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Rice scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Campbell County is 3-1 when Idles posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Koalton Cupp, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Campbell County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Campbell County pushed their record up to 4-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 10.33 hits in those games compared to only 5.6 in the others. As for Hancock County, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Campbell County Cougars duke it out with Knoxville Central Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. This will be Campbell County's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Hancock County, they will challenge Cumberland Gap at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
