Preview: St. Francis vs. Wausa
Wausa may have come out ahead in their last matchup, but they shouldn't get too cocky given who is up next. St. Francis and Wausa go head to head on Thursday in their first playoff match of the year. Wausa aren't expected to win, but seeing as the odds didn't stop them last game, maybe the team has another upset up their sleeve.
Wausa had a rough outing against Hartington-Newcastle two weeks ago, but a little bit of home cooking seems to have fixed things right up. Wausa took their game against Randolph last Thursday 50-42. Senior Ghatlin Hegge was the offensive standout of the match for Wausa, as he rushed for 221 yards and 3 touchdowns. In fact, with ten tackles Hegge was a force on both sides of the ball.
Meanwhile, St. Francis put the finishing touches on their 6th blowout victory of the season. They took the contest and then some with a 54-6 win over Plainview. The victory was familiar territory for St. Francis, who now have eight in a row.
Their wins bumped St. Francis to 8-0 and Wausa to 4-5. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, Wausa and St. Francis will really light up the scoreboard.
