Basketball Recap: River Valley Takes a Loss

River Valley was the 57-44 winner over Kennedy when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The River Valley Falcons fell just short of the Kennedy Cougars by a score of 53-50 on Thursday. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why River Valley lost, don't look at Jai Chohan. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 15 en route to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gurtaran Sanghu, who posted eight points and five boards.

Even though they lost, River Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Aharon Young continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Kennedy, putting up 20 points. Young's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jordan Lawrence, who put up 12 points.

River Valley's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Kennedy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.

River Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-39 win against Oakmont on the 20th. As for Kennedy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 79-70 defeat against Whitney on the 20th.
