Baseball Game Preview: Tehachapi Warriors vs. Clovis West Golden Eagles

The Tehachapi Warriors will head out to challenge the Clovis West Golden Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Tehachapi barely beat South the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Tehachapi put the hurt on South with a sharp 14-2 victory on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Warriors considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clovis West). They were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over Paso Robles on Friday. With that win, the Golden Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Nolin Santillan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

In other pitching news, Reece Van Alen looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024.

Back at the plate, Clovis West let Luke Gonzales and Peyton Miscione run wild. Gonzales scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Miscione scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Gonzales a new career-high in RBI (three). Micah Raygoza also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Tehachapi pushed their record up to 7-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Clovis West, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.
