Baseball Recap: Independence's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Independence was forced to take a big defeat against they on Friday, they got the better of them on Monday. Everything went their way against the Butler Bulldogs as they made off with a 12-3 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Patriots as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Blake Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Independence got a massive performance out of Brian Crowder, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Crowder has posted since back in March. Alfred Seaman was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Independence's victory bumped their record up to 9-15. As for Butler, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 9-15.

As of now, neither Independence nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
