Baseball Recap: Humble Comes Up Short

Humble came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 8-2 to the Aldine Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 5-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2018.

Humble got a good showing from Fabian Castillo, who tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, Castillo didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent over his last three contests.

On the hitting side, Humble saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Fillyaw, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple was Fillyaw's first of the season.

Humble has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8-1 record this season. Aldine now has a winning record of 3-2.

Coming up, Humble will take on La Porte at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Aldine, they will be taking part in a tournament against Alief Elsik at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Alief Elsik has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.25 runs per game on average), something Aldine will no doubt try to take advantage of.
