Baseball Recap: Hatton Comes Up Short

Hatton fell victim to Central and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. If the Hornets were looking for revenge after losing 10-6 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in February of 2016, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Bryson Jeffreys spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hatton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tasean Love, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Hatton has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-14 record this season. As for Central, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-9.

While Hatton had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
