Softball Recap: Surry Central Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Forbush, Surry Central was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the North Wilkes Vikings by a score of 11-7. This was a revenge game for the Golden Eagles: when they faced off against the Vikings on April 4th, they had to take a 13-3 loss.

McKindsey Lloyd spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Layla Wall, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 4-for-4. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Morgan Brooks, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

Surry Central's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-10. As for North Wilkes, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-7 record.

As of now, neither Surry Central nor the Vikings have any future games scheduled.
