Baseball Game Preview: Clearview Pioneers vs. Gloucester Catholic Rams

Clearview is 1-9 against Gloucester Catholic since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Pioneers will square off against the Rams at 4:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Clearview comes in on four and Gloucester Catholic on 17.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Friday as neither Clearview nor Kingsway made it on the board until the seventh inning. The Pioneers had just enough and edged out the Dragons 2-1.

Clearview got a great performance from Andrew Boerner as he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Clearview's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Braeden Cook, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Gloucester Catholic owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over Cherry Hill West.

Jackson Smallets tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over six innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Guy Lynam, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Gloucester Catholic's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Clearview, their record is now 13-4.
