Preview: Southview Cougars vs. Lima Senior Spartans
Southview has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Lima Senior Spartans at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Southview comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Southview suffered their biggest defeat since December 1, 2023 on Thursday. Their tough 37-14 defeat to Springfield might stick with them for a while.
Southview's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mikayla Dorn, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds, and Alyssa Shinaver who scored no points.
Meanwhile, Lima Senior scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They blew past Waite 66-9 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Lima Senior has posted yet this season.
Southview's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-11. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.4 points per game. As for Lima Senior, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season.
Southview strolled past Lima Senior in their previous matchup back in February of 2019 by a score of 59-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Southview since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
