Football Recap: Cypress Lake Extends Winning Streak to Four

Cypress Lake extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 4-2. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Estero Wildcats 25-23. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Panthers also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

Adrian Burdette had an outrageously good game as he picked up 102 receiving yards and two TDs.

Cypress Lake's defense stepped up as well, laying out Maddox Stewart six times. The heavy lifting was done by Daniel Johnson and Mason Kurtz, who racked up all six sacks between them.

As for Estero, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3. They gained 171 more yards on the day, but it was Cypress Lake that made the best use of them.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Stewart, who threw for 262 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 36 yards and one score. Estero also got a significant boost from Townson Green, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 92 yards.

Cypress Lake has already played their next game, a 22-7 loss against South Fort Myers on the 3rd. As for Estero, after each having a week off, they and Lemon Bay will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:30 p.m. on the 10th.
