Basketball Recap: West Charlotte Skates Past Chambers with Ease

It was a proper cat-fight when West Charlotte took on Chambers on Tuesday. The West Charlotte Lions blew past the Chambers Cougars 59-29. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matchups by 22 points or more this season.

West Charlotte was led to victory by Bri'Asia Rowe and Chakira Generette. Rowe posted eight points in addition to ten rebounds and six steals, while Generette went 7-for-13 to rack up 17 points. Thanks to that strong game, Generette now owns an excellent 45.5% shooting accuracy. Jonnae Bennett was another key player, going 5-for-11 en route to 11 points and three steals.

West Charlotte smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

West Charlotte's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points over those games. As for Chambers, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-16.

West Charlotte and Chambers could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. West Charlotte (ranked 108th) will meet North Mecklenburg (ranked tenth) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Chambers will square off against Mallard Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Friday down 309 places (320 vs. 11).
