Soccer Game Preview: Marathon vs. Somerset Academy South Homestead

The Marathon Dolphins will take on the Somerset Academy South Homestead Hurricanes at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Marathon came up short against Coral Shores on Friday, falling 5-1. That's two games in a row now that the Dolphins have lost by exactly four goals.

Meanwhile, Somerset Academy South Homestead fell victim to True North Classical Academy and their airtight defense on Thursday. They lost 7-0 to the Titans. While losing is never fun, the Hurricanes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while the Titans are ranked 93rd).

This is the second loss in a row for Marathon and nudges their season record down to 4-10-1. As for Somerset Academy South Homestead, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-4 record this season.

Marathon might still be hurting after the 5-2 defeat they got from Somerset Academy South Homestead in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Marathon was down 3-0.
