Basketball Game Preview: Marvin Ridge Mavericks vs. Cuthbertson Cavaliers

Marvin Ridge and Cuthbertson are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Marvin Ridge Mavericks will challenge the Cuthbertson Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Marvin Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.3 points per game this season.

Marvin Ridge is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Porter Ridge: they outscored them in every quarter. Marvin Ridge put the hurt on Porter Ridge with a sharp 74-54 win on Tuesday.

Brady Dunn went supernova for Marvin Ridge, going 9 of 15 from beyond the arc en route to 31 points. Those 31 points gave Dunn a new career-high. Henry Smith was another key player, putting up 15 points and five assists.

Meanwhile, Cuthbertson hadn't done well against Sun Valley recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Cuthbertson walked away with a 51-41 victory over Sun Valley.

Marvin Ridge has also been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Cuthbertson, their record now sits at 11-6.

Marvin Ridge strolled past Cuthbertson in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a score of 45-30. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marvin Ridge since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
