Preview: Littleton Lions vs. Dakota Ridge Eagles
After two games on the road, Littleton is heading back home. They will take on the Dakota Ridge Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Littleton's and Heritage's matchup on Saturday was close at halftime, but Littleton turned on the heat in the second half with 39 points. Everything went Littleton's way against Heritage as Littleton made off with a 64-42 win. With that victory, Littleton brought their scoring average up to 50.3 points per game.
Littleton had a senior duo take command as Penny Urquhart dropped a double-double on 30 points and ten rebounds and Jacy Chandler scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Urquhart has scored at least a third of Littleton's points. Another player making a difference was Samantha Hernandez Tobon, who scored two points along with ten rebounds and four steals.
Dakota Ridge posted their biggest victory yet this season on Monday. They blew past Conifer 59-18 at home. Given Dakota Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while Conifer is ranked 280th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Littleton's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Dakota Ridge, they pushed their record up to 8-7 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Littleton didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Dakota Ridge in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 46-40 victory. Will Littleton repeat their success, or does Dakota Ridge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
