Basketball Game Preview: Poly Parrots vs. Los Angeles CES Unicorns

The Poly Parrots will square off against the Los Angeles CES Unicorns at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Poly knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 16 contests -- so hopefully Los Angeles CES likes a good challenge.

Poly is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They walked away with a 60-50 win over Rancho Dominguez. Given the Parrots' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 306th, while the Lobos are ranked 633rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for JD Wyatt, who posted 33 points. The game was his 35th in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Quian Khawaja, who had 16 points.

San Pedro typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Los Angeles CES proved too difficult a challenge. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 47-46 victory over the Pirates.

Poly has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.1 points over those games. Los Angeles CES' win bumped their record up to 8-19.

Poly strolled past Los Angeles CES in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a score of 58-44. Will Poly repeat their success, or does Los Angeles CES have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
