Softball Recap: Calabasas Takes a Loss

Calabasas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They fell 8-5 to the Poly Parrots.

Bryce Somoza was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Beautifull Palmer and Lilly Kingston stepped up to the plate in a big way. Palmer scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Kingston scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Nicole Velazco, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Calabasas' loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Poly, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calabasas will take on Oak Park at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Poly, they will square off against Village Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
