Basketball Recap: Northwest Christian Comes Up Short at Home Against Pe Ell

Northwest Christian unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 58-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pe Ell Trojans. The Wolverines were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2020.

Despite the loss, Northwest Christian still got an impressive performance from Dan Babber, who posted 20 points and four steals. Babber has been hot, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Meier, who earned nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Pe Ell found their leader in freshman Blake Nelson, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 15 points in addition to five rebounds and four blocks. Another player making a difference was Kohl Perkins, who had ten points and seven rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Pe Ell and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Northwest Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 61-47 win against Chief Leschi on the 5th. As for Pe Ell, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-32 loss against Ocosta on the 6th.
