Baseball Recap: Azle Takes a Loss

Azle fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Richland on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Royals by a score of 4-3. The Hornets haven't had much luck with the Royals recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Azle got a good showing from Christopher Voelkel, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Azle saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ty Bonnett, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI.

Azle's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Richland, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-12-1.

Looking ahead, Azle will square off against Haltom at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Hornets are facing the Buffalos at the right time seeing as the Buffalos are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Richland, they will face off against Paschal at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Royals' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
