Baseball Recap: Cory-Rawson Fighting Hornets vs. Ada Bulldogs
Cory-Rawson's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top against the Ada Bulldogs by a score of 6-3. The Fighting Hornets have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulldogs, too.
Mason Hall spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 18 Ks.
On the hitting side, Dom Moon and Lane Banner did most of the damage at the plate: Moon scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Banner went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave Banner a new career-high. Hunter Cosart was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Cory-Rawson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ada only posted an OBP of .250.
The victory got Cory-Rawson back to even at 1-1. As for Ada, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
Coincidentally, Cory-Rawson and Ada will both be playing Upper Scioto Valley the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will head out to face the Rams at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Fighting Hornets will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
