Baseball Recap: Jones Has No Trouble Against Rockport-Fulton

Jones hadn't done well against Rockport-Fulton recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Trojans put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 10-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.

Davyn Perez was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Jones' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 5-10-1 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Tyler Lang was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Cain Salinas also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Jones' record is now 7-11-1. As for Rockport-Fulton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-9-1.

Jones has already played their next matchup, a 4-0 defeat against Sinton on the 11th. As for Rockport-Fulton, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-0 loss against Victoria East on the 12th.
