Baseball Recap: Westview Comes Up Short

Saturday just wasn't the day for Westview's offense. They fell just short of the Mishawaka Marian Knights by a score of 1-0 on Saturday. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Westview saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaxon Engle, who went 2-for-3 with one double. Luke Stults also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Westview and nudges their season record down to 4-6. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Mishawaka Marian, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-5 record.

Coincidentally, Westview and Mishawaka Marian will both be playing Illiana Christian the next time they take the field. The Warriors will head out to face the Vikings at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, while the Knights will play them later in the day, at 3:00 p.m.
