Soccer Game Preview: Havelock vs. Swansboro

Havelock hasn't had much luck against Swansboro recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Rams will face off against the Pirates at 6:00 p.m. Havelock has given up an average of 3.2 goals per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Havelock lost 10-1 to J.H. Rose on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Havelock can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 267th, while J.H. Rose are ranked 60th).

Swansboro hadn't beaten West Carteret on the road since April 13, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Pirates never let the Patriots get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. Kenadie Bennett had to tread lightly for part of the match after she was hit with a yellow card, but that was the only trouble Swansboro got from the refs.

Kyleigh David and Bennett scored both of Swansboro's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 16 goals.

This is the second loss in a row for Havelock and nudges their season record down to 7-10-2. As for Swansboro, their record is now 9-3-6.

Havelock might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Swansboro in their previous matchup back in March of 2022. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
