Softball Recap: Wyoming Area Comes Up Short

If Wyoming Area was feeling good fresh off their 14-4 takedown of Hanover Area on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Warriors came up short against the Pittston Patriots on Sunday, falling 16-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 10-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Wyoming Area saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexa Gasek, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and one run. Marissa Giardina was another, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Wyoming Area's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Pittston, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wyoming Area will challenge Greater Nanticoke Area at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pittston, they will face off against Dallas at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
