Baseball Recap: Mendota Picks Up Sixth Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Mendota, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Avenal Buccaneers on Friday as they made off with a 19-3 victory. Considering the Aztecs have won seven matchups by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Mendota let Paul Ochoa and Antonio Amezcua run wild. Ochoa went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double, while Amezcua got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Ochoa has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Preciado, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.

Mendota always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .767. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Mendota pushed their record up to 12-11 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Avenal, they are on a 22-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-22.
