Volleyball Recap: Girard Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Girard, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Paola Panthers on Saturday. For the Trojans, this counts as revenge for the 2-1 victory the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

The 2-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-23.

Maddie Coester paced Girard's offense, picking up seven kills. Coester got some help from Emilee Hanks and her 17 assists. Hanks was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Girard pushed their record up to 22-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Paola, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-7.

Girard has already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Erie on the 4th. As for Paola, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bonner Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
