Football Game Preview: Desert Oasis Diamondbacks vs. Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners

Two dominant signal callers in Akemi Higa and Leyla Randolph are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Desert Oasis Diamondbacks will be playing at home against the Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Desert Oasis is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 16 games.

Desert Oasis' defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Cheyenne 46-0. Considering the Diamondbacks have won 15 contests by more than 19 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

A big part of Desert Oasis' victory came down to the chemistry between Higa and her top target Akiko Higa. Akemi threw for 186 yards and four touchdowns while completing 81.3% of her passes while Akiko picked up 125 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Southeast Career Tech faced Arbor View in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. Southeast Career Tech fell to Arbor View 24-19.

Although Southeast Career Tech took the loss, they still got scores from Ke Kameehonua and Kiara Hughes.

Even if they lost, Southeast Career Tech's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Camila H was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two herself.

Desert Oasis pushed their record up to 20-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.8 points over those games. As for Southeast Career Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 19-9.

Desert Oasis came out on top in a nail-biter against Southeast Career Tech in their previous matchup last Thursday, sneaking past 26-24. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Randolph, who rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also threw for 154 yards and two touchdowns. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Desert Oasis still be able to contain Randolph? There's only one way to find out.
