Baseball Recap: Millington Triumphs

Reese typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Millington proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Rockets by a score of 11-7. This was a revenge game for the Cardinals: when they faced off against the Rockets on Thursday, they had to take a 5-3 defeat.

Garret Woodward was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Woodward was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Millington let Gauge Woelzlien and Lukas Henderson run wild. Woelzlien got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Henderson went 1-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Henderson a new career-high. Coleton Schisler was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Millington's record now sits at 14-8. As for Reese, their loss dropped their record down to 20-4.

Coming up, Millington will venture away from home to face off against North Branch at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Broncos will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Cardinals surely won't give up without a fight. As for Reese, they will be playing at home against Laker at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
