Baseball Recap: James F. Byrnes Starts off Right with Win over Riverside

James F. Byrnes took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Riverside Warriors. The victory continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won four in a row.

Easton Keels looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jaxson Camp, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Emory Yarrell was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1.

Riverside's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, James F. Byrnes will host St. Joseph's Catholic at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Riverside, they will square off against Woodruff at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The last seven games Riverside has played (dating back to last season) have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
