Soccer Recap: Fountain Inn Gets the Win

Fountain Inn won the last time they faced Emerald and things went their way on Thursday too. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Fury who were credited with the win. The Fountain Inn Fury got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to the Emerald Vikings' three. Even though Fountain Inn got in a bit of trouble with the refs ( Sonya Poole was handed a red card), the team managed to overcome the adversity.

Fountain Inn's one-goal win came courtesy of Addison Coons, who's now up to 12 this season.

Fountain Inn is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those eight contests. As for Emerald, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fountain Inn will take on Powdersville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Powdersville will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Fountain Inn surely won't give up without a fight. As for Emerald, they will square off against Laurens at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Emerald are facing Laurens at the right time seeing as Laurens are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
