Soccer Game Preview: Evergreen Valley vs. James Lick

The Evergreen Valley Cougars will head out on the road to take on the James Lick Comets at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Evergreen Valley has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with four straight defeats, while James Lick will come in with three straight victories.

Evergreen Valley fell victim to Gilroy and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 1030th, while the Mustangs are ranked 511th).

Meanwhile, James Lick kept a clean sheet against San Jose on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Bulldogs as they made off with a 3-0 win. The matchup marked the Comets' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Lael Perez was the driving force of James Lick's attack as he scored all three of James Lick's goals, bringing his season total up to five goals.

James Lick's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Evergreen Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5-1.

Evergreen Valley skirted past James Lick 2-1 in their previous meeting back in December of 2015. Will Evergreen Valley repeat their success, or does James Lick have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
