Volleyball Game Preview: Wauzeka-Steuben Hornets vs. Weston Silver Eagles

Wauzeka-Steuben is a perfect 8-0 against Weston since September of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:00 p.m. Wauzeka-Steuben will be strutting in after a victory while Weston will be coming in after a defeat.

Wauzeka-Steuben barely beat North Crawford the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hornets put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 3-0 win on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hornets.

Wauzeka-Steuben was especially dominant in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-18, 25-9.

Meanwhile, Weston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 3-0 to Seneca.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-4, 25-14, 25-10.

Despite the defeat, Weston saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lexi Rockweiler had nine digs and six kills. Rockweiler has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 11 times she's played.

Weston's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Wauzeka-Steuben, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Wauzeka-Steuben was able to grind out a solid victory over Weston in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 3-1. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Silver Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
