Baseball Recap: Pace Takes a Loss

Pace had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 7-15 to make it four. They took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Donna North Chiefs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 6-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Abraham Gutierrez made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs. He has become a key player for Pace: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-14 otherwise. Francisco Galaviz was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

As for Donna North, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 8-13 record. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

On Donna North's side, Fidencio Guevara was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Guevara has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Reyna, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

While Pace had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
