Basketball Recap: Falfurrias Fightin' Jerseys vs. London Pirates
The Falfurrias Fightin' Jerseys pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of London by a score of 59-57. It was the first time this season that Falfurrias let down their fans at home.
Falfurrias lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Quisto Sanchez, who scored 21 points. Another player making a difference was Romeo Gutierrez, who scored 14 points.
Falfurrias' defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 25-5. As for London, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-13 record this season.
Falfurrias will head out on the road to face off against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Banquete is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for London, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Gertrudis Academy will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
