Volleyball Recap: Howland Tigers vs. West Branch Warriors

After flying high against Ursuline on Tuesday, Howland came back down to earth. The Tigers fell just short of the West Branch Warriors by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. The Tigers have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Howland actually scored more points across those three sets (66-62), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 12-25, 25-20.

Maya Kubancsek paced Howland's offense, picking up 21 kills. Kubancsek got some help from Talia Rishel and her 29 assists. Rishel was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Having lost for the first time this season, Howland fell to 3-1. As for West Branch, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Coincidentally, Howland and West Branch will both be playing Jefferson Area the next time they take the court. The Tigers will head out to face the Falcons at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Warriors will play them later in the day, at 12:00 p.m.
