Volleyball Recap: Nordhoff Comes Up Short

If Nordhoff was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Carpinteria last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rangers lost 3-0 to the Santa Paula Cardinals on Tuesday. The Rangers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cardinals earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

Nordhoff was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Santa Paula work for it, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 27-25, 25-15.

Nordhoff's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 12-4. As for Santa Paula, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-10 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Nordhoff is set to face off against their familiar foe Hueneme at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Santa Paula will challenge rival Fillmore at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
