Basketball Game Preview: Saguaro Sabercats vs. Arcadia Titans

The Saguaro Sabercats will challenge the Arcadia Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Saguaro has three straight wins, Arcadia has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Saguaro will bounce into Friday's match after beating Mesquite, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Saguaro walked away with a 75-64 victory over Mesquite on Tuesday.

Saguaro can attribute much of their success to Aidan Whitaker, who went 10 of 15 en route to 24 points, and Justice Hinds, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 17 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That's the most points Hinds has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bentley Elrod, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 14 points and five boards.

Saguaro was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mesquite only racked up ten assists.

Meanwhile, Arcadia came up short against Cactus Shadows on Tuesday and fell 68-55.

Saguaro's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 84.0 points per game. As for Arcadia, they now have a losing record at 10-11.

Everything went Saguaro's way against Arcadia in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Saguaro made off with a 76-56 victory. Will Saguaro repeat their success, or does Arcadia have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
