Baseball Game Preview: Clay-Chalkville Cougars vs. Minor Tigers

The Clay-Chalkville Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the Minor Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Clay-Chalkville is headed into the matchup having just suffered their closest loss since March 19, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of St. Clair County by a score of 4-2. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Clay-Chalkville saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aaron Frye, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. What's more, Frye also posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Minor was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Calera, falling 15-5.

Minor's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Clay-Chalkville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Everything went Clay-Chalkville's way against Minor when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as Clay-Chalkville made off with a 16-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clay-Chalkville since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
