Football Recap: Shadow Hills Takes a Loss

If Shadow Hills was riding high fresh off their 44-10 takedown of Desert Hot Springs last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Knights were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 52-51 to the Patriot Warriors. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (44), the Knights still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Shadow Hills still got an impressive performance from Jesse Rodroguez, who threw for 247 yards and six touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes. With that strong performance, Rodroguez is now averaging an impressive 3.2 passing touchdowns per game. Shaheem Sama was in the mix as well, providing Shadow Hills with two TDs.

A big part of Patriot's win came down to the chemistry between Nathan Villanueva and his top target Jordan Tapia. Villanueva rushed for 175 yards and one score while Tapia picked up 43 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Shadow Hills' loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Patriot, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Shadow Hills and Patriot will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Knights see the field they'll take on Rancho Mirage at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for Patriot, their break will end when they face Ramona at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
