Basketball Recap: Alta Piles Up the Points Against Highland

Alta's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 52-22 victory over the Highland Rams. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Hawks had established a 28 point advantage.

Leading Alta to victory were Alia Baldassano and Quincy Kegel. Baldassano went 8 of 16 on her way to 20 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals, while Kegel went 7 for 14 en route to 19 points along with six assists and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Kegel has scored at least a third of Alta's points. Izzy Lewis was another key player, putting up four points and five boards.

Despite the loss, Highland still got an impressive performance from Katinia Olevao, who posted ten points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave Olevao a new career-high in boards.

Alta has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Highland, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Alta didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 57-55 win against Olympus on the 17th. Highland has also already played their next contest, a 45-25 defeat against East on the 17th.
