Volleyball Recap: Ritchie County Comes Up Short

Ritchie County was the 2-0 winner over St. Albans when they last played one another back in September of 2015, but their luck changed this time around. The Rebels fell just short of the Red Dragons by a score of 2-1 on Thursday.

St. Albans' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ellah Smith led the charge by getting five kills, three aces, and one block. That's the most kills Smith has posted over her last eight matchups. Another player making a difference was Natalie Harris, who had 15 digs.

Ritchie County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for St. Albans, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-10.

Ritchie County has already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against St. Marys on the 30th. As for St. Albans, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Clay County on the 4th.
