Football Recap: Douglas County West Takes a Loss

Douglas County West was the 28-19 winner over Pierce when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Falcon were dealt a 42-6 loss at the hands of the Bluejays on Friday. The Falcon were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-6.

Special teams was responsible for all of the team's points. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Zane Wohlers, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Kaiden Fritz went supernova For Pierce., rushing for 90 yards and three TDs on only 12 carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns Fritz has posted since back in August of 2024.

Douglas County West now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Pierce, the win was the fourth in a row (dating back to last season) for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Looking ahead, Douglas County West will challenge Roncalli Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pierce, they will take on Fort Calhoun at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 856 yards in their previous games.
