Recap: Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons vs. Amherst Broncos
It was a good run, but the Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 40-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Amherst. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wilcox-Hildreth in their matchups with Amherst: they've now lost five in a row.
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Madison Bunger, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Bunger has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Bunger, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Wilcox-Hildreth's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Amherst, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilcox-Hildreth will take on Silver Lake at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Silver Lake is ranked 126th, while Wilcox-Hildreth is ranked 109th). As for Amherst, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pleasanton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Pleasanton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Saturday.
