Baseball Recap: Hermitage Hornets vs. Appleton City Bulldogs

Hermitage had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 6-8 to make it four. They lost 11-5 to the Appleton City Bulldogs. The Hornets were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

As for Appleton City, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 11-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games.

For Appleton City's part, Owen Basore made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, Basore posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since April 6th. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Appleton City got a massive performance out of Weston Farmer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Camden Flagg, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.

Coming up, Hermitage will head out to square off against Ash Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Appleton City, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Humansville at 5:00 p.m.
