Basketball Recap: Jefferson Takes a Loss

Jefferson extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Friday, dropping them down to 0-3. They took a 57-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Manual Arts Toilers. The Democrats were not able to make up for their loss to the Toilers from their previous meeting back in February.

As for Manual Arts, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 3-4 record. The matchup marked their most dominant victory of the season so far.

Manual Arts was led to victory by Corlin Coleman-Boyles and Makarius Westbrook. Coleman-Boyles went 8-for-14 to rack up 16 points and seven steals, while Westbrook posted 17 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. Those 16 points gave Coleman-Boyles a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrian Collins, who earned five points.

Looking ahead, Jefferson will host Torres at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Democrats will be up against the Toros' rather soft defense (which has allowed 52.33 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Manual Arts, they will head out to face off against West Adams at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
