Softball Recap: North Judson-San Pierre Triumphs

North Judson-San Pierre had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 8-11 on Saturday that streak is in the rearview. They skirted past the Prairie Heights Panthers 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bluejays have posted since May 15, 2024.

Lexi Howard and Kenya Cooper did most of the damage at the plate: Howard fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4, while Cooper fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4. Those three hits gave Howard a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Catlin Hammack, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

North Judson-San Pierre was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Prairie Heights only posted a batting average of .231.

As for Prairie Heights, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 14 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. Their defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

On Prairie Heights' side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emily McCrea, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Another was Bailee Godsey, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

North Judson-San Pierre wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 16-6 loss against Wheeler on the 20th. As for Prairie Heights, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 6-5 victory against Jimtown on the 19th.
